Nancy Roberts is an Obstetrical Registered Nurse, Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, and Certified Childbirth Educator at Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids. Through working as a RN in the labor and delivery department and teaching prenatal childbirth classes, she
developed a passion for working with moms, babies, and new families.
She founded the Postpartum Emotional Support Program in 1993 and began facilitating the Perinatal Mood Disorder Support Group at Spectrum Health Healthier Communities. In 2005, she developed and continues to coordinate the inpatient PMD screening program on the mother baby postpartum unit. She authored “Supporting the Breastfeeding Mother through Postpartum Depression” and is a member of Postpartum Support International, serving as a Michigan coordinator and resource professional. Nancy is dually employed at the Pine Rest Mother and Baby Day Program, teaching psycho educational classes to the pregnant and postpartum women who attend. She assisted in the development of this program and fills a key role in collaboration with many outside referral sources for the program. Nancy has been speaking with audiences for the past 15 years, training both professional and community persons regarding Perinatal Mood Disorders. She has been instrumental in the creation of the Healthy Kent and State of Michigan PMD Coalitions. And lastly, she would like to invite anyone interested in joining this Coalition to contact her as the membership chair.
